The mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, has congratulated the Hotel Blaumar
Salou. Costa Dorada. 30 March 2025. Hotel Blaumar in Salou is the first establishment in the capital of the Costa Daurada to be certified as a Queer Destination. In order to facilitate the achievement of this certification, the hotel has offered training to all its staff so that they can provide quality care to its customers from this group.
The distinction was presented by Oriol Pàmies, founder of Queer Destinations, a private entity with a presence in 18 countries and recognized for promoting inclusive tourism around the world, which has the support of the spanish Ministry of Industry and Tourism.
The award ceremony was attended by several companies from Salou and also by the mayor and president of the Tourist Board, Pere Granados, who congratulated Hotel Blaumar for its initiative and commitment, since it has fully assumed the cost of achieving the aforementioned certification.
Granados has also pledged to support all companies and entities that want to follow this path and work to achieve this certification. In this sense, he said that “it is a collective and essential commitment for the future of tourism in Salou. Everyone who respects Human Rights can and must be part of this value chain”.
For this reason, the mayor announced that the Municipal Tourism Board and the Salou City Council will finance the training necessary for all those companies, services and establishments that want to join this initiative and adhere to the Queer Destinations network, with the aim of making Salou an increasingly open and respectful destination with diversity.
For his part, Oriol Pàmies explained that “LGBTQ+ tourists are not looking for different treatment, they just want to feel welcome, safe and respected. And if they find it, they will recommend it, return and help build a loyal and quality destination”.
