Salou. Costa Dorada. 30 April 2020.
After the Transition Plan to the New Normality of the Spanish government, which gradually escalates the lack of confidence until June 30, the Business Federation of Hospitality and Tourism of the province of Tarragona demands more details from the government on how the opening of the tourist and restaurant accommodation.
For this reason, the Federation has issued a statement with its demands for the different administrations that includes the following points:
- We welcome the end of June with the announced measures, as we wished, to reach a "new normal" with open accommodation and catering establishments.
- However, we are waiting to know the details of the new regulations that hotels, campsites, apartments and restaurants must follow when opening to offer their services with full guarantee and safety for all, both for customers and for workers.
- However, from the FEHT we are waiting to see how the different markets, both local, national and international, react to this "new normal". It should be borne in mind that, if for various reasons such as, for example, fear of contagion or loss of purchasing power, tourists do not visit us, the tourism sector will continue to suffer severe damage that will affect both the future of companies, as well as the jobs that will be generated, with the serious socioeconomic damage that this fact will cause in our province.
- For this reason, from the FEHT, we continue to demand from all the Administrations -local, autonomous and state-, effective, real and immediate aid, as well as tax forgiveness so that the tourism sector can continue to exercise, in the short term, as one of the socioeconomic engines of the province of Tarragona.
- Likewise, we are waiting to learn about other crucial aspects for our sector, such as, for example, whether the borders will be opened and when, new aspects of labor contracting during the different phases of de-escalation, the specific regulations to ensure the opening of the different establishments, the new conditions for traveling by plane and by train...
- Last but not least, from the FEHT and on behalf of all the Associations that are part of it, we want to once again publicly thank the thousands of professionals, both healthcare and from other sectors, who are helping to alleviate the serious consequences of this pandemic with their effort, work and involvement.
