Electric vehicles from the Zero Race will reach the Port of Cambrils
Cambrils. Costa Dorada. All four of the zero emission electric vehicles will be exposed Race on Sunday, February 20, from 15 hours on the steps of Cambrils Port Royal, where they'll make a pit stop to recharge the batteries and to continue his journey. The Zero Race is a race to combat climate change that wants to prove that you can traverse the world in 80 days with renewable energy without releasing polluting gases. If the 1873 Jules Verne wrote a novel about the adventures of Phileas Fogg in English around the world, now the Zero Race has proposed doing the same with electric cars (counting only the hours of driving without breaks). The procession of vehicles that will travel 30,000 kilometers, left Geneva on August 16, came to Tarifa in Spain on February 17 and leave for Barcelona on 21. The race, promoted by the United Nations Program for Environment, will cross 16 countries and more than 150 cities. There are four teams involved between 250 and 500 kilometers a day at an average speed of 80 kilometers per hour. The organizer of this trip, the Swiss teacher Louis Palmer, was the first person to cross the world with solar energy.
