The second phase of the remodeling works on Carles Buïgas Street in Salou, one of the main commercial arteries of the capital of the Costa Dorada, is scheduled to begin in October 2023. The action will
focus on the 700 meters of the avenue between Murillo Street and Torremolinos Street, and will convert the entire road into a pedestrian promenade that will
connect the nerve center of Salou with the Capellans beach area.
The works are expected to last
12 months.
The budget is 4.58 million euros, financed by the "Extraordinary Program of Tourism Sustainability Plans in Destinations (PSTD), year 2021, Axis 2, corresponding to the improvement of energy efficiency"; within the framework of the "Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR)"; and financed through the "Next Generation EU Recovery Fund".
The objective of this work is to improve the road infrastructure and the urban environment, providing residents and visitors with a safer, friendlier and more pleasant experience, while attempting to revitalize this area.
This project continues
the remodeling of the first section of Carles Buïgas Street, between Fuente Luminosa and Murillo Street, inaugurated on June 18, 2021. The work carried out has left this section of street on a single level, completely pedestrian.
70 new benches were installed to rest and
85 new trees of different species were planted, some grouped to generate a forest effect, with shade and a greater sensation of freshness.
In addition,
new LED streetlights were installed that provide a wide chromatic variety to the light they emit, controlled remotely with remote management equipment.
A bollard that works via Bluetooth was also installed, so that residents on Carles Buïgas Avenue in Salou can access their garages and merchants can enter the street with authorized vehicles for loading and unloading and services.
The complete remodeling of Carles Buïgas street and its conversion into a completely pedestrian axis represents another important step in the actions undertaken by the City Council to calm traffic in Salou, and to convert the capital of the Costa Dorada into a
friendlier municipality, sustainable and accessible.
