The Economic Dynamization area of the Salou City Council, with the collaboration of the Shopping Salou Merchants and Entrepreneurs Association, launches the 2020 Christmas window contest, with the aim of promoting and invigorating local commerce, and making you participate in the beautification of the city during the Christmas holidays.
All shops and service companies in the municipality of Salou that have a shop window that meet the necessary conditions to be decorated can participate. Businesses that want to participate must register in advance by sending an email to [email protected] or [email protected] indicating the name of the establishment and address, name of the contact person, telephone number and email. The deadline to register is December 18.
The theme of the contest is free but related to Christmas, and you can use the material to decorate the establishment that you deem appropriate. However, shop windows whose subject matter may hurt political sensitivities or that make an apology for violence will not be admitted.
The jury will go through all the participating businesses to make the corresponding assessment, one day, within the period in which the showcase must be mounted and visible to the public. It will evaluate the windows according to the following parameters: originality, commercial impact, artistic quality, lighting and respect for the environment.
The first prize will consist of 500 euros; the second, at 300 euros, and there will be three third prizes of 200 euros. The jury will announce the winners on January 8, 2021.
Before this initiative, the mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, stated that "it is a sample of the motivation and dynamizing spirit of the shops of Salou, at the same time that it serves to value quality and innovation in articles" .
For his part, the Councilor for Economic Dynamization, Héctor Maiquez, pointed out that "the intention of the contest is to motivate local merchants to decorate their windows and make the streets more colorful during the next festivities."
