Music and colour at the Christmas lights switch-on

Christmas lights switch-on in Salou 2024

Salou. Costa Dorada. 30 November 2024. The Christmas lights switch-on is always a good time to enjoy Salou with the family, thanks to the music and colour show organised by the Town Hall. The chosen location is the central roundabout at the intersection of Barcelona Street and Via Roma, where a splendid 12-metre-high Christmas tree is installed, all made of LED lights, and crowned by a large star.

At the official start of the Christmas events in Salou this 2024, the Children's and Middle School Choir of the Salou Municipal Music School was in charge of opening the show with various Christmas carols.

Then, the Fran animation company entertained the audience with its self-confidence and its choreographies to the rhythm of the most famous pop songs.

The Mayor of Salou, Pere Granados, accompanied by the Councillor for Economic Development, Héctor Maiquez, then pressed the button that turned on the Christmas tree in Salou and, symbolically, the rest of the Christmas lights in the capital of the Costa Daurada.

The show continued with a performance by students from the Nou Estil dance academy in Salou and the party ended with the distribution of hot chocolate and gluten-free sweets.

As every year, the roundabout where the Christmas tree in Salou is set up and the confluence of the streets that connect at this point are filled with families from the municipality and visitors to enjoy the music, the colour of the Christmas lights and the festive and optimistic atmosphere of Christmas.

Every day, at 7 pm, the Christmas tree in Salou will offer a show of music and colour until 6 January.

Crochet Christmas tree

A novelty for this Christmas 2024 is the installation of a crochet Christmas tree made by the incredible association Grup de Dones de Salou, in collaboration with the town's shops.

The tree is located on Ponent Street and will be lit for the first time on December 5 at 7 p.m., with a musical show by Salou singer Anna Tena, among other activities.

Christmas lights and figures in the streets of Salou

The Christmas lights will be turned on in the main streets of Salou every day until January 6, which have also been decorated with life-size figures of typical characters of this time of year.

To make the Christmas holidays more sustainable, the Christmas lighting on the streets will be turned off at one in the morning. In addition, many of the lights installed are LED technology, with low energy consumption, and are made of recyclable lightweight aluminum.
