Salou, Cambrils. Costa Dorada. 27 June 2021.
Sea, sunset, the best of the land and good company. This is the plan that the Gulet Karya offers on Friday nights and during the summer of 2021 with the collaboration of various Tarragona wineries that, on board the boat, will offer guided tastings to showcase their best wines. The departures, around 20:00, from the Port of Cambrils and with a capacity limited to a maximum of about 40 people, despite the fact that on the schooner they could do it up to 80. The departure also includes a dinner based on the kitchen and the Cambrilean seafaring tradition and from the dishes that were previously cooked on board during the hard days of fishing.
The presentation of this plan, which combines sea, landscape and gastronomy, had the participation of the wineries La Botera de Batea (DO Terra Alta) and Trosset de Porrera (DO Priorat). Two very different wineries in terms of the cultivation and production processes of their respective wines, but which participate in the Vinos de Ánfora project, which consists of aging part of their production in amphorae and in the sea. This aging system has now been recovered in the waters of the Delta del Ebro and the Port de Tarragona, but the ancient Romans, settlers of Roman Tarraco, had already experienced it.
Along with the guided tastings and navigation off the coast of Cambrils and Salou, for a space of about 90 minutes, the experience includes, once arrived at port, a seafood dinner: appetizers and some of the dishes that old fishermen and experienced chefs will be put on the table, accompanied by the wines that participate in the project. The final price of the plan is 50 euros per person.
The Costa Dorada is many things, and among them excellent quality wine, seafood cuisine, unique sunsets and a unique boat. Wine, sea, good company ... an offer worth knowing.
