Costa Dorada and Terres de l'Ebre. Diverse populations of the Costa Dorada and the Terres de l'Ebre are preparing to celebrate the July 15th and 16th of 2009, the traditional the Virgen del Carmen day, saint patron of seafarers and also known as Stella Maris by the people of the sea. In Tarragona, Cambrils, Torredembarra and Ampolla, among others, busy starring processions by sea for fishermen and sailors, people in these populations and also visitors and tourists, and other fun events such as holidays and traditional “bous” of l’Ampolla. In Cambrils, on July 15th, there is “Habaneras” and rum at the Regueral beach and on July 16th the boats leave in procession by the sea along the image of the Virgin, who receives a gift. In Tarragona, seaside concentrated people is Serrallo neighborhood where the population go to carry the image of the Virgin to the boats and start the procession. They also tend to elements such a giants and a “castellers” of the neighborhood. In Torredembarra the festivities of the Virgen del Carmen is part of the Feast of Santa Rosalia. Also on Thursday, July 16th from 19:45 h celebrates maritime procession accompanied by fireworks and 21 h was dancing “sardanes” with Cobla Catania. In Ampolla, the procession will be from 20 pm, but half hour before the band M. Martinez Solà of Jesus give a concert, while at the end of the procession was a castle to shoot fireworks. The days before and after this municipality of the Terres de l'Ebre is held between the various events that include traditional heifers (called "bous") and " bous embolats”.
