The Charterhouse of Escaladei renewing
Escaladei. Costa Dorada. The Charterhouse of Escaladei, (thirteenth century), the oldest preserved in the Iberian Peninsula has experienced renovations throughout its history, particularly in the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The XXI century will be no exception: between 2010 and 2012 shall apply the master plan of the monument, a series of actions that will ensure their conservation and at the same time, make it more accessible. The proceedings of the next year will focus on the restoration of the cloister and church and in signaling the entire set, which will allow visitors to interpret and explore its history. Moreover, archaeological excavations continue, this year have uncovered the original pavement of the cloister. Improving Escaladei, where samples are preserved Romanesque, Gothic and Baroque, will also increase the number of visitors, this year the figure could reach 20,000.
