The Tower of the Chapel of La Aldea Tierras del Ebro. Visitas guiadas gratuitas. The current environment of the hermitage of Mare de Deu de l'Almúnia was a Muslim village with a lofty tower. After the Christian conquest in the mid-twelfth century, the castle was renovated and the tower rises to better control the territory. This watchtower was rebuilt at least twice: in 1586 and 1856. And in 1914, demolished due to the bad state it was. The present tower is a reconstruction made in 1936. From the terrace of the tower you can enjoy good views of the whole country, especially the Delta and the final stretch of the river Ebro Some recent archaeological excavations have allowed rediscover the castle of L'Aldea. During the tour, access to the tower of L'Aldea, people also may see the remains of these old units, built by the Arabs on the structures of a Roman villa or factory. Inside the tower is the Interpretation Center of the Tower, which will help us learn more about this heritage defense. Days and times of guided tours at 12pm and 4 pm . Comment: The visit to the tower of the church of L'Aldea will last about 45 minutes or so. Getting There: The starting point of the visits will be the Tourist Office of L'Aldea, located next to the chapel of the Virgin of the Village and the same tower to be visited and about 2 km, approximately southeast of the town.
